Help Nurse Norma Fight Leukaemia!
Donation protected
Hi everyone, my name is Norma Collins and I am a registered nurse. I have worked in Post Acute Care in Florida for over 27 years and hope to be able to put in a few more.
I went to my doctor around the end of February due to the inability to sleep and extreme tiredness. By March 5th 2018 I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and the roller coaster ride began.
I started Chemotherapy right away which required a 33 day hospital stay. The treatment that I'm undergoing includes 4 more chemotherapy sessions that requires 6 day hospitalization... if all goes well. I didn’t plan on the hospitalization in between due to infections, but one day at a time.
I was accepted at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida for a bone marrow transplant. I am presently going through the process to find a bone marrow donor. In the meantime, the bills have started pouring in and, as I'm unable to work, I have no income since Florida is not a Paid Disability State. I need a lot of help!
The donations will help with medical expenses (present and future) not covered by insurance, which are substantial. I also need to cover
Travel and housing to Shands Hospital for the transplant and other daily expenses.
Anything you can do, great or small, will be GREATLY APPRECIATED and help me on my road to recovery. I couldn’t believe that the first 33 days cost nearly five hundred thousand dollars.... but one step at a time. Thank you all for reading my story and thanks especially for considering helping me out :)
