Help Give Norma a “Leg Up”
My cousin Norma Jackman had a below the knee amputation due to a blood clot, in March at South County Hospital, followed by a two week stay at Vanderbilt Rehabilitation. Norma is now staying with her son and daughter-in-law in Coventry, using a wheelchair for mobility. She is also known to use a walker to hop around, prompting her son to give her an IHOP T-shirt, which she wears proudly. Our family often uses humor to cope with difficult situations, and even now Norma leaves me laughing.
Norma has the chance to get a prosthetic leg, which would allow her to walk on her own again, but she is unable to pay her portion of the cost. While the amount isn’t that much, when added to what she still owes from her hospital stay she just can’t afford it.
If all of those who know and love Norma, and those who admire people who deal with adversity using humor, would contribute what they can, we could give her that “leg up” that she needs.
