Help Us Celebrate Norman “Jah Belly” with the Send-Off He Deserves

On November 26, my siblings and I lost the rock of our family—our beloved father, Norman, known to many as Jah Belly. He was our first love, a man of deep care, laughter, and strength. His passing has left a void that words cannot fill.

Dad was eagerly awaiting the holidays with family and the chance to meet his youngest great-granddaughters in December. On November 10, he walked into an ER in New York seeking medical attention, but while there, he suffered a tragic fall. The injuries were catastrophic—a broken spine and neck, a concussion—and he underwent an emergency two-part surgery to save his life.

He fought bravely, nodding and blinking to communicate with us after the first surgery. But despite his will to survive, his body endured too much trauma. On November 18, he underwent the second surgery, and eight days later, we lost him abruptly.

Our father’s passing was unexpected, and there are still many unanswered questions. As we navigate this immense loss, we are dedicated to giving him the homegoing he deserves.

Dad was a vibrant, joyful soul, and to honor his dignity, we’ve shared a photo that captures him in his element—celebrating life to the fullest.
