Help Nova to Walk
Nova is a beautiful, funny 3 year old little girl who touches the heart of everyone she meets. Nova was born with many complex health problems and at the age of 5 weeks old Nova was diagnosed with a chromosome deletion after suffering multiple seizures where she became non responsive in her Mummy’s arms. Nova was later induced into a comer. Doctors told us that Nova would have lost her life if she hadn’t received medical treatment that night.
During Novas short life she has already had many medical procedures and tests to determine all of her needs. Some of them being; Lumbar Punctures, routine Blood Tests, MRI, EEGs and many more.
Currently nova has been diagnosed with;
Deletion of Chromosome 1
Global Developmental Delay
Non Verbal/Mobile
Small hole in heart with regurgitation of blood
Sensory difficulties
Past Seizures
Severe Sensory Issues
Nova is currently being assessed monthly as doctors believe nova doesn’t have much sight in the upper part of her eyes. Nova often suffers with severe chest infections requiring emergency treatment in hospital and has been admitted in an emergency twice with Sepsis. Doctors can’t give us a life expectancy for Nova however she’s a strong brave little girl who defys us every single day and pushes herself to the max.
Nova attends weekly therapy sessions and uses Makaton to communicate as she is unable to talk. Novas first sign she learnt was Star which is heart warming as the meaning of Novas name is ‘Bright New Star’ Novas favourite sign is ‘Rainbow’ and she loves the rainbow song to be sang to her at least 20 times a day. This beautiful little girl signs ‘I Love You’ to her Mummy and StepDaddy Every single night without fail.
Nova has got many pieces of medical equipment which has been funded so far by the NHS and Novas Mummy & StepDaddy. Nova has lots of support at home with her brothers and sister and with all our extended family who will do anything Nova needs at any time of the day.
We would be grateful for your support to be able to provide nova with new equipment to help her with her development. Nova currently needs a DM Orthotics medical rehabilitation suit which she will need to wear every day for a minimum of 6 - 8 hours. The suit used to be funded for by the NHS but unfortunately this is no longer the case. This suit will help nova to train her muscles with strategically placed panelling to give her support around her core to help her keep herself up and hopefully to stand unaided and one day to walk. The suit gives sensory feedback whilst also providing pain relief. This will be a piece of equipment which would be a miracle for Nova.
We have a target of £4000 to fund nova with 3 suits. Any help would be greatly appreciated and you can follow Novas story on Instagram @Novasstory2018 or on Twitter @Nstory2018
Thank you for your support.
