Help NSW Hongkongers hold an art exhibition
Donation protected
(Chinese version to follow in the bottom)
The NSW Hongkongers is an independent group of Hong Kong expats and Australian citizens currently living in NSW, Australia. We formed this group after 9 June 2019 in response to the growing unrest in our home city of Hong Kong. Over the last six months, we have organised various activities to show solidarity and stand with Hong Kong.
As such, we are going to hold an art exhibition about the democracy movement in Hong Kong, titled “The Art of Defiance: Hong Kong: Revolution of our time” 6-18 February 2020 at m2 Gallery in Surry Hills, Sydney, to help engage in the greater NSW community, and spread the message of the movement further.
To capture the essence of this movement from a different angle, we will be featuring a selection of photos from photojournalists, photographers as well as posters and artwork created by various Hongkongers, illustrating “the art of defiance” of Hongkongers.
It will take around AU$10,000 to cover this two-week art exhibition. Below is the breakdown of the budget, and we would like your help to achieve this goal:
Budget – Total: $10,000
- Venue
- Printing
- Promotion
- Insurance, including venue and artwork
- Shipping and logistics
- Others, including crowdfunding thank you gifts and media opening night (if any)
As a token of thanks, the first 50 people who donate AU$50 or above will receive a 4.5cm tall mini “Lady Liberty Hong Kong” figure (colour chosen at random). For those who donate AU$100 or above, you will receive a 4.5cm tall mini “Lady Liberty Hong Kong” figure (colour chosen at random) and a handmade, movement-themed fused beads accessory (accessory chosen at random).
As we only have 50 mini figures and 30 fused beads accessories, it will be on a first come first serve basis. Please screencap your donation invoice with the timestamp and send it to [email redacted], and we will organise your thank you gift for pick up at the exhibition.
Any additional funds raised will be put towards our future events. A spreadsheet detailing the expenses will be made public afterwards.
We will be really grateful for all your help. See you at the exhibition!
