Help Nudgee 2023 Old Boy in his battle with cancer.

A few weeks ago, a lovely local family - the Munro's received devastating news that turned their lives upside down. This is a situation that could happen to any family with kids in our community, including mine, at any moment. I am asking our wonderful 4007/4010/4011 community to come together and help as much as possible.

Lucille and Steve's seemingly fit and healthy 18-year-old son, Jonny had complained about pain in his leg. After tests, the specialist diagnosed Advanced Ewing's Sarcoma. This form of cancer is rare and aggressive and primarily affects young people.

This remarkable young man is just beginning his life. Jonny graduated from Nudgee College in 2023 and is now a second-year apprentice. But now he has a long and challenging road ahead. He will be undergoing intensive chemotherapy and radiation for up to a year. This will commence next Monday. He may also require reconstructive surgery.

Jonny is optimistic and determined, but he can't do this alone. A network of family including two older brothers, a loving girlfriend, and friends surround him. Still, I need your help to ensure he gets the best care and can focus on fighting this illness with everything he has.

Even in the best-case scenario, he will be off work for a long time. He will face significant medical expenses, including hospital bills, long-term care, and rehabilitation. His family, despite these challenges, is doing everything they can to stay strong. Their resilience is truly admirable, but they need support, so I'm reaching out to our community. Your help, prayers, and positive thoughts mean the world as Jonny navigates this difficult journey.
