Help Nurse Cheryl Morkan Crush T-Cell Lymphoma!

Donation protected
Cheryl was just diagnosed with Angioimmunoblastic T-Cell Lymphoma. This is a rare, aggressive form of T-Cell Lymphoma and the treatment consists of six to twelve months of high-dose chemotherapy as well bone marrow transplants. The next year of Cheryl's life  will consist of countless tests, chemotherapy, doctor visits and hospitalizations. Because of all of this, Cheryl will be unable to work for about the next year and, because of Covid-19, she cannot risk leaving her house with the exception of medical treatment.

Cheryl and Sean have been married for 28 years and have two sons, Nat is 28 and Joel is 20. Cheryl is a Registered Nurse and Sean is a Respiratory Therapist. They have spent the last 28 years working nights and weekends and alternating shifts so they could homeschool and raise their boys. If you have ever met Nat and Joel you know that their efforts paid off as the boys are smart, sweet and the most loving "kids".

For those of you who do not know "Mama Cheryl",  she has been in healthcare for over thirty years, most of which has been at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Palm Beach County, Florida. For the past eight years, she has been a Charge Nurse on the Cardiac Unit taking care of post-cardiac surgical patients. I have trained under her for five years and have watched her empower many new nurses to follow in her footsteps. Because of this, she earned "Nurse of the Year" in 2018.  We all refer to her as Mama Cheryl and she refers to us as her "babies". She is the most selfless, loving person I have ever met. She makes sure all of her nurses and patients are well cared for equally. She puts others above herself and is very well regarded at PBGMC. Nurses know the saying "Nurses eat their young" but Cheryl refuses to let that happen on our unit. We have a tight knit group of nurses and nursing staff and it makes for a wonderful and fun work environment. We all get along so well and Cheryl makes sure we all help each other as much as we can. When we hire new nurses or nursing staff, Cheryl takes them under her wing and makes sure they are comfortable and are being treated right. She is truly our hero and we love her dearly!

Over the past 7+ months, Cheryl has worked countless overtime hours caring for patients, including Covid+ patients, and making sure her unit is staffed and her nurses are taken care of. Because of this, she wasn't focusing on herself. She assumed the fatigue and aches and pains were due to the stress of working lots of hours in healthcare during the Covid crisis. It wasn't until the end of September when she felt so bad she had to go to emergency room. Within a few weeks she had a biopsy that confirmed that she does indeed have lymphoma. This was a huge shock to Cheryl as well as to her family and friends.

Now the hard work begins. Cheryl and her family are going to need all the love and support they can get. Cheryl will be unable to work so Sean will be the sole financial provider as well as caregiver. Medical insurance won't pay a portion of her treatment so they will have to pay out of pocket. Also, when she finishes chemo, she will need a bone marrow transplant which may require her to move closer to a facility that provides this service. She will have to pay all of that out of pocket as well. (If anyone is interested in being a bone marrow donor please go to Be The Match ).

Her PBGMC family means the world to her and she means the world to us. We are all looking forward to her going into remission and returning back to work. In the meantime, we are asking for help with her medical bills. Any contribution, big or small, will be incredibly appreciated. I will continue to post updates here, but if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Every penny of this campaign will go to Cheryl and her family to help pay for all medical bills and associated medical costs.  Again, thank you all!
