Help Nurse & Chicago FireFighter after home fire
Donation protected
On March 10, 2021, the McDermott family suffered a fire in their home, a lovingly restored historical farmhouse which dates back to 1854. It is a rare example of rural Chicago architectural history. Fortunately, no one was injured in the blaze, not even Hamilton, the family dog. But the family, including Hamilton, is displaced and face challenges ahead.
The McDermotts are fantastic people. Lydia and Jordan are both nurses and Jordan is also a Fire Fighter / Paramedic with the Chicago Fire Department. If you've worked with Lydia and Jordan at St. Mary's or with Jordan on CFD you know they're the kind of people that just make your day better. And making bad days better is what they have done for so many many people their whole lives. They'd be the last people to ask for help which is why we decided to set up this Go Fund Me.
Knowing the McDermotts, they will overcome this setback as they have others along the way, with their characteristic determination, grace and their unflagging good humor.
Our goal here is to help them with the financial obstacle that has just been dropped on them and at the same time show them they're not alone. They've always been there for others and now is our chance to be there for them.
