Help nurse Hayley get back on the road
This beautiful lady is my best friend Hayley Peters.
Hayley is a nurse for the NHS, 8 weeks ago she moved out of her family home and into mine as her step dad is terminally ill and she was absolutely terrified she’d give him Covid19.
Hayley cannot drive (she was learning but this ceased when lockdown began) and she relies on her moped to get to and from work. We live in rural Suffolk, public transport sadly isn't an option.
A week ago Hayley broke down (again) on her way home after another gruelling 13 hour shift - for the third time in 8 weeks her old moped gave up on her and she was stuck at the roadside. We managed to recover Hayley but left the bike where it was whilst we sourced a replacement part. When Hayley returned to the moped this weekend it was no longer there, it had been stolen.
Hayley doesn’t know this page exists, she’d hate to think she was ‘bothering’ people but I’ve watched her the last 8 weeks and seen her broken and exhausted, existing off little sleep, with barely any downtime and terrified she’s going to infect me or my family (and desperately wishing she could be at home helping her mum care for her step dad).
Hayley spends all day everyday worrying about her family, her friends, her patients, her colleagues - worrying that she's letting people down, worrying that people are in pain and she can't help them. And because I live with her, I've seen first hand the toll this has taken on her physical and mental health - worrying about how she'll get to and from work everyday feels like a worry we can solve for her.
So I need your help, if you can spare a few pounds towards this fund we can get Hayley back on the road (on a moped that's safe to ride and won't leave her stranded at the roadside late at night).
And if you know Hayley, please do not tell her about this page yet, or she'll worry that she's worrying you all!!
Hayley is one of many heroes keeping this country safe- if you cannot donate, please don't worry, just clap extra loud for her on Thursday evening and send positive thoughts her way :)
Thank you so much
Marie-Claire
