Help Nurse's Family of Crashed Hawaii Life Flight
Donation protected
On Thursday, December 15th, Hawaiʻi Life Flight’s Beechcraft King Air 90 departed Kahului airport and headed to Waimea to pick up a patient. Courtney, a medical flight nurse, was aboard the flight with two other crew members when the plane reportedly lost radar contact and crashed 15 miles off the coast of Maui around 9:27 pm. The US Coast Guard, on December 18th, pronounced Courtney and the two other missing crew members officially deceased.
Her daughter Sydney, a Maui Kindergarten/First-grade teacher, faces this unimaginable reality and navigates through this uncertainty. We ask for your help in supporting her financial needs and surrounding her with love, prayers, and aloha.
When we asked Sydney to describe her mother, Courtney said: “My mom was funny, loving, and selfless. She loved her nurse job and always put everyone’s needs before hers. It was her passion always to help others, and no matter the risk of her job, she willingly got on the plane every shift so she could assist those in need. When she wasn’t working, she loved to play with our 2 dogs and also loved to travel and go on adventures. This summer, we had plans to go explore Greece together.”
As many of you know, Sydney is a passionate educator, cares deeply about her students, and loves her current job as a Maui Kindergarten/First-grade teacher. Before Sydney’s mother departed on December 15th, she resided with her mother and their two dogs in Kihei, where all living expenses were shared. After sharing the tragic news of HawaiʻI Life’s flight, her landlord is unwilling to work with her or give her a break on the rent this month to cover her mother’s share. She will need to find more affordable living arrangements as she navigates through the change.
We would be grateful if you can help by providing any information on potential housing availability (preferably in Kihei, HI, and dog-friendly) or providing financial help for expenses.
