Help NYC kids learn in Philly!

In 11th grade US History we are preparing to study the US Constitution; our Nation's guarantee of basic rights for its citizens. The first thing that pops in my mind is the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. It is my actual favorite museum. This museum gets it right. I believe it makes the history of our country come alive. Juniors in NY State are required to take a Regents test in order to graduate. Everyone learns differently and going to this museum and the location of the signing of the Declaration of Independence can really help the information stick.
Of course, there is more to this than just the academic aspect. As a teacher born in Philadelphia, nothing would make me happier than bringing the students of Manhattan Business Academy to my home city. It can be a bonding experience they may remember forever. The problem is, as a low-income, Title 1 school, we do not have the funds to get to the museum. Our students' parents and guardians cannot all put in the money for the buses. I want to help give them the kinds of experiences all children deserve to have. This is where we need the help. I know it's a lot, but I think it's possible. I try not to ask for much for my students, my kids, but I would just absolutely love to do this for them and I am hoping maybe you do too :)
Two charter buses cost about $3000 for our 113 11th graders and 10 or 11 teachers.
A trip to the national constitution center would be the culmination of our unit on the US constitution which we will be learning about during the month of October. The proposed date for this trip is November 1.
I would be forever grateful to a community who can help make this happen. I believe my school and students would be as well. You can also know that you personally helped make this trip a reality. My kids deserve it! All kids do!
