Help Oak Ridge purchase a Trishaw bicycle!
Hello, we are Oak Ridge Assisted Living!
During the covid-19 pandemic, our facility discovered that our local Hastings Area Rotary Club was part of Cycling Without Age, a Copenhagen based bicycle organization that has made it's way to the US and beyond. These electric assist motors have brought an amazing form of transportation to the residents in our community; we have been able to use the trishaw to take fishing trips to a local lake, visit the bakery, and even go get a cup of coffee- something our residents haven't been able to do because of the pandemic.
Oak Ridge would love to have an easily accessible bicycle at our fingertips because it would save time and resources for our facility and be a great activity either scheduled or unplanned. The flexibility to provide rides to our residents would make a significant positive impact on their mental and emotional wellbeing. In our memory care unit, the bicycle rides have been an effective redirection and intervention for our residents.
We are excited to announce that the Hastings Area Rotary Club has decided to partner with our facility to help make our dreams of having a tricycle on-site a reality. Because of this partnership, the rotary has agreed to pay for half of the tricycle if we are able to financially contribute the other half ($12,000 total- $6,000 split between the two parties). We are also fundraising an additional $1,000 for a shed to store and recharge the bicycle when not in use.
These trishaws have been a life changing and impactful experience for our residents.
