Help Oakly get a home

Hi, my name is Tania, and I am fundraising for Oakly Bain and his mum Kirsty Biggers.

On the 7th of January 2021 Oakly Bain was born. He was diagnosed with Complex Congenial Heart Disease, Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), Double Outlet Right Ventrical (DORV), Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, Interrupted and leaking valves and Polysplenia- (which means on top of his heart condition, he is seriously immunocompromised)

The first 10 months of his life were spent in hospital with Kirsty by his side.

800kms away in Esperance, Kirsty’s 4 other children were being cared for by her Dad and sister.

The doctors told her she wouldn’t be able to return to Esperance anytime soon, so Kirsty started the expensive and arduous task of relocating her family.

As if that wasn’t hard enough, this happened to be during the worst rental crisis Perth has seen in 20years.

2 months ago she had to move out of the house she was in, forcing her and her kids into a refuge.

Last week Oakly was rushed to hospital after catching a common cold. His heart rate skyrocketed to 200bpm (heart attack territory) and Kirsty thought she might lose him.

The social worker at the hospital organised accommodation for the other kids as they weren’t allowed at the refuge without their mum, but they can’t do anything for her long term.

When Oakly is released, she can not take him back to the refuge without putting him at risk.

If Oakly is to survive, he needs a hygienic, sterile and stable home with a mum who can focus on giving him everything he needs. Not just surviving day to day.

The future is uncertain enough.

Please help give Oakly a chance at life and get Kirsty on her feet.

We have been pushing social services at every turn to get Kirsty assistance, but nothing is happening fast enough and time clearly is of the essence.
