Help offset Aiko's $7800 vet bill please
Tax deductible
Many of you know that Bruce and I adopted 6 dogs in the past 5 years from Jindo Love Rescue :
(More information about Jindo Love Rescue: We are a group of volunteers with a mission in saving dogs from Korea's dog meat trade. As they're tortured in brutal ways, we're working around the clock to save as many lives as possible. We also target the dogs in the kill shelters with no hope and various rescue situations. Most dogs have medical issues and need surgery and intensive treatment which is life threatening such as parvo and heartworm. We have no admin expenses and no one is paid. Thus, every dollar will be utilized for their rescue.)
On March 3rd, while I was in Colorado petsitting, Bruce noticed that our boy Aiko was in distress and quickly brought him to our vet at Hyannis Animal Hospital. There they
X-rayed him and took blood and referred him to the surgeons at Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists in Bourne. Bruce paid the $1200 bill there and transported him to the hospital where they examined him and took him in for surgery (he had a torqued testicle that was causing a blockage he had been neutered in So Korea but apparently one testicle had not "dropped")
I wAs able to fly home on a red eye and
We are incredibly grateful that the surgery was a success and that he is on the mend but the cost of his procedure and hospital stay were a staggering $6600 on top of the preliminary evaluation.
When we adopted the first 3 dogs from Jindo Love Rescue, we got pet insurance for them but Aiko and his sister Althea were rescued from the dog meat farm and I only meant to foster them. Once we decided to keep them we didn't add them to the insurance because the premiums would have been $200 per month. We hedged our bets you could say but unfortunately Aiko's hospital bill is putting a lot of stress on us.
There was no question that we would do whatever we could to save him for a second time❤️
