Oghenechovwe Donald Ekpeki pronounced (UH-ge-ne-chah-we Donald AY-PAY-kee) is best known as one of the best science fiction and fantasy authors, editors and publishers to emerge from Africa in the past decade.
The African Speculative Fiction Society has provided sponsorship to attend but Oghenechovwe Donald Ekpeki is still in need of funding for other travel and visa expenses, hence this GoFundMe effort. He would like to raise $3000.
He has won the Nebula, Locus, Otherwise, Nommo, British & World Fantasy awards and was a finalist in the Hugo, Sturgeon, British Science Fiction and NAACP Image awards.
He is a finalist in the Nommo Award in two categories, best short story and best novella, which will be presented at the WorldCon in Glasgow this year.
His works have appeared in Asimov’s, F & SF, Uncanny Magazine, Tordotcom, Galaxy’s Edge, and others. He has also edited the Bridging Worlds, Year’s Best African Speculative Fiction anthology and co-edited the Dominion, and Africa Risen anthologies. He was a CanCon Guest of Honor and a GoH at the Afrofuturism themed ICFA 44 where he coined a new term/genre label, Afro-Pantheology.
Mr. Ekpeki will be attending to celebrate the sf and fantasy fiction and to extend contacts with the writers, editors, artists and publishers from around the world.
