Help Old Nick's pay for added security

As a lot of you know, we at Old Nick's experienced an intense weekend filled with racist and homophobic hate mail, physical threats of violence, and repeated attacks by right wing media outlets framing our Drag Queen Storytime as nefarious.

We made it through our event safely, but unfortunately we expect to be a target for violent extremists for a good while.

The cost of security for the event to keep Vanellope and the queens, along with our patrons and staff safe, was almost $2,000

We would like to make sure we can afford added security for all our LGBTQ events going forward.

The truth is, we, like many other venues and restaurants, have had an extremely hard year. The pandemic has continued to cancel our shows, and the economic climate means our access to funding is limited. Our patrons are also struggling and being more frugal about when and how they go out.

We are preparing for an undoubtedly difficult holiday season for many - with multiple free community meal events as a part of our Pay it Forward free meals campaign.

Through all of this our goal is to keep everyone safe, warm, and fed. All funds donated will be used to help pay for the security this past weekend, as well as cover added security going forward.

We love you all so much, and we will not ever back down to hate. We have already heard reports of multiple other events being targeted by these hate groups.
