RIP Olga: Support Her Family Following this Tragic Loss

We are devastated at the loss of Olga Meshoe Washington and pray for her family at this time.

Olga’s world changed in an instant, and so did her family’s. On her way home from visiting family in South Africa, Olga suffered an unexpected medical emergency during a layover in New Jersey. What started as a nap at the airport gate quickly turned into a life-threatening situation. Olga was rushed to the ICU and was there for a week, where doctors discovered complications from her autoimmune disease, lupus, compounded by pneumonia and other respiratory issues.

Joshua, her devoted husband, was alerted by her brother and immediately flew to be by her side. Their two young sons, ages 6 and nearly 4, are back home, waiting for their mom to get better. While family members are doing everything they can to support Joshua and the kids, this unforeseen crisis brought emotional and financial challenges that no one was prepared for.

Olga tragically passed away on January 6, 2025. She was an inspiring activist and leader, and is mourned by so many.

With your help, we can ease some of the financial burdens so Joshua can focus on what matters most—being there for his and Olga's precious boys as they try to cope with this loss.
