Help Olha and Nazar Begin their New Lives

The war in Ukraine has taken so much away. Olha and Nazar Khortiuk just gotten married when the invasion happened. These sweet 23 year olds were on their honeymoon when the invaision happened and were not able to return home because their community (Irpen) was among the 1st hit. All of their wedding presents, their apartment, the beginnings of their young lives young lives have been taken.

Both Olha and Nazar had great jobs In Ukraine, getting started here is harder than one might think. While they both have good English, it is still difficult to find meaningful work. No government funding has been available to help them with their day-to-day costs. The tools of trying to find a job like a cellphone have been items that have had to come out of their meager funds. We are helping as much as we can, And we're hoping that you can help too.

Your can will help Nazar to recertify here. In Canada it takes quite a lot of time energy and money to do that and by working together, we can ensure a great future for them here.

Your donations will also help them to integrate and gain independence in Ottawa. Things like enrolling in recreation programs, using transit, going to meet up with other Ukrainians for a drink or ice cream... they are all so important and cost money. Soon they will need winter gear, they were in UAE at the time of the invaision... so they came with only a small amount of summery clothes for their vacation.

Lastly, Olha and Nazar want to access therapy here. They have a lot to work on from their trauma, a long term counselling relationship is key for them.

I can't tell you what a pleasure it has been to have these young people in our home, they've brought joy and sweetness with them and we are so lucky to have them with us. We really do wish the best for them and hope that you too can help.

We will organize a celebration for all the donors once we have met our goal or exceeded it that would be really amazing!
