Help Olivia have a better life with a better home

Hi, this request for support is for Olivia (Liv) who is 21 & has stage 2 bone cancer brought on by severe osteoporosis. This has brought ‘normal’ life to a halt where previously she was very sporty, at University, had a full & active life with a sport oriented career & all of that has had to stop.
Liv is unable to do much without the risk of injury & has had countless broken bones resulting in extreme care and restrictions required to avoid further injury & is now reliant on a motorised wheelchair as well as every movement requiring careful planning & risk management.
The reason for this appeal Is that After a year of waiting Olivia has finally been offered a council retirement bungalow that will aid her in having a more comfortable independent life. Even though Olivia has been told she can not work and has no way raising the funds she is expected to provide all flooring throughout her home while also buying a suitable supporting sofa, cooker, bed, mattress and dining table and chairs.
We are looking for funding to be able to buy Olivia some decent furnishings and flooring for the home that she deserves and will probably be her home for a long time. The property needs fully furnishing Olivia has no means of achieving this without family & friends support. At such a young age & with limited means or guidance of what to expect, Liv will need to buy literally everything you can imagine to set up her home. The accommodation should meet Liv’s longer term needs although as if things weren’t challenging enough, Liv’s condition is degenerative & will worsen significantly over time & she’s already experienced this accelerate over the last 2 years.
Her condition is rare & consequently the treatment is sometimes experimental, exploratory, doesn’t usually work and Liv has demonstrated incredible resilience whilst undergoing painful biopsies, operations, chemotherapy, continual change to her diet & physiotherapy regime and this will continue throughout her life which is likely to be shortened as a result of her conditions.
Anything you are able to contribute and support her with will be very gratefully received and will make a huge difference to Liv’s wellbeing, health and her ability to lead as normal a life as possible in very difficult, changing and challenging circumstances.
On behalf of Liv, her family and friends, thank you in anticipation of any support you can offer.

Olivia is the most happiest and bubbly girl who has a passion for life and enjoys everything and everyone around her. Olivia is also very family orientated and loves to be around her family at any point she can although given recent circumstances this has become really difficult.
This all changed around 2 years ago, when at the age of 18 Olivia was sadly diagnosed with osteoporosis which completely changed her life in a way she could never have possibly imagined. Olivia has always had a passion for sport since a young age, she was very athletic, always doing cross country and taking part in anything she could. Olivia had a particular passion for football, at the age of 15 she started playing for Rochdale football club which was something she always aspired to do. She played for the club for just over 4 years before gaining a BTEC scholarship, this meant that she was able to play football 5 days a week which was something she always wanted to do. During the second year of college she was told she could no longer play as it was too much of a risk to her health with breaking her bones regularly. Olivia also missed out on her chance to go to uni and get the degree she wanted for her dream job which was to become a PE teacher, she also missed out on the enjoyment that uni life would bring to a young adult such as Olivia. This impacted her life massively as playing football and gaining her degree to encourage more young people into sport was everything to her and something she never wanted to stop doing.
In the last year Olivias health has rapidly deteriorated and become more vigorous as the days pass. Olivia is now bound to a wheelchair with her legs being too weak to walk even a short distance. She has undergone many different treatments including several bone biopsy’s which put her through mass amounts of pain, she has also undergone calcium infusions multiple times all of which she was told hadn’t worked and had to start again with more treatments. This resulted in Olivia being sick most of the time and wasn’t able to take part in any daily activities she would have liked to let alone any leisurely activities she would have usually enjoyed.
A couple of weeks ago Olivia was advised to ask for a second opinion of her condition as she was told there was nothing else that could be done to help treat or at least stabilise the deterioration of her condition. Upon doing this Olivia has been given the diagnosis of stage 2 bone cancer. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy 4 times a week and it is looking positive that she will be able to fight this with the chemo as it was caught in its early stages.
Throughout the whole of her diagnosis and treatment and constant hospital visits Olivia has been the most amazing girlfriend, daughter, auntie and sister anyone could ever ask for, and still has high hopes and spirits that she will overcome her illness and at least have the chance to live the life she did before.
Whilst dealing with the stress of having these conditions, Olivia has been on the waiting list for a bungalow which is a suitable property that would suit all of her needs for her disability, as it is such a large risk that she could damage her body living in an ordinary house as she could trip and fall down any stairs and break her bones so easily. Olivia has been let down too many times to count with several different properties and was ready to give up with finding the perfect property to make her home. Last week Olivia was finally given the chance to live a better life and have some independence in her own home, with being offered a lovely bungalow close to all of her family. Olivia is so excited to start a new adventure in her own home and just be an independent young woman like any normal 21 year old would like to do.
