Help one of our own get to Med School

With education being a pillar of the 100 Black Men, we are making an appeal to help one of our young men in need. Aaquil Madison is a fine young man who has overcome a lot in his young life. He is an achiever and has aspirations to become a doctor. Aaquil is an alumnus of Bodine High School for International Affairs and has received his BA in Kinesiology from Temple University.

Aaquil recently volunteered to conduct the 100 Black Men of Philadelphia’s effort to prevent gun violence by mentoring our youth this summer. Unfortunately, his own family was touched by gun violence resulting in the death of his older brother. Here's a comment from Aaquil -

“ Life has issued me a high loss also in the form of my older brother Zykeem Thomas. We lost him in the beginning of July of this year due to gun violence. My biological father’s life was also taken by gun violence when I was just 7 years old. Something my mother has prayed for all my life, is that we never meet this fate. I know I am not to be a statistic but to be a shining light for the younger generation who didn't choose the life they currently find themselves in.”

Aaquil is pursuing his dream and is currently working part time at a Local Hospital as a Rehabilitation Aid/Transporter for post-surgery and trauma patients which is a highlight of his life. Though working and taking courses is extremely challenging, Aaquil is earning As in his coursework.

Sadly, two days before the 100’s anti-violence program was to start, Zykeem’s life was taken. Shaken by this, emotionally he was unable to assist in the program. Now it’s our turn to assist Aaquil. He is in dire financial need to pay for his courses at Temple. The Philadelphia chapter of 100 Black Men wants to see this young man reach and fulfill his dream of becoming a doctor and is appealing to everyone to help by making a donation.
