Hi, I’m Opal, and I need some help paying my bills.
I have had some struggles finding work since I came out as a transgender woman and must have some surgery soon. I worry that I cannot hustle enough to cover expenses during my recovery.
This is what I am doing the following to resolve the situation:
- Keeping my head up and keeping hope alive
- Continuing to apply for work in my field
- Applying for work beyond IT positions
- Using the state assistance that is available to me
- Waiting for a social security eligibility review
- Considering more education to become employable in another field
I would be eternally grateful for any direct financial or practical assistance you could spare. If you have leads on LGBTQ+ friendly employers across the SLC valley or remote work elsewhere, I do everything from tech support to systems architecture.
All financial assistance will go toward these September and October expenses:

This GoFundMe is being run by a friend as I am afraid to share my personal information, because of my fear of becoming a larger target for the deep vitriol being expressed towards transgender people in the United States, and Utah in particular.
