Help Open a Cafe in the Heights, Tulsa
Donation protected
Hi! My name is Aimee Hunter and I am fundraising for a new neighborhood cafe venture in the Heights neighborhood of Tulsa, OK. The goal is to raise enough funding from the community to prove community-interest to our credit union business loan. We plan to soft open February 2022, and have our grand opening in March 2022. Each donor will receive a gift card in the amount of the chosen donation or any gifts over $500-$1000 will have the option to receive a private event scheduled anytime within the calendar year of our opening. As the initial sole owner of the cafe, I present my ideas and goals for the cafe below.
Overview:
PRISM CAFE

Local Goods
For Local Community
The neighborhood cafe will serve classic and simple sandwiches and deli/diner-style items made from local ingredients, fresh baked breads, from scratch condiments with high quality meats, vegetables, and cheese. In the winter time, we will offer soups and stews, salads in the warmer months.
Our counter will offer juices, smoothies, and other healthy alternatives. Our menu will reflect the neighborhood's expressed menu and item interests.
The cafe will provide a small general store selection of basic needs for the neighborhood including but not limited to:
- local produce
- milk, eggs, butter/oils, bread, deli meats/cheeses
- products by local makers (soaps, candles, teas)
- last minute items; loaf of bread, bottle of wine
- cheeseboard/items to help entertain
- toilet paper/toiletries
- and more!
Our goal is to provide a convenient option, within walking distance, for all kinds of daily needs. The cafe hopes to be a place to connect with the community on a daily or as needed basis.
Future Goals:
- Community engagement through menu selections and offerings
- Price points that accommodate the entire community
- Neighborhood grown produce, local meat & dairy
- Help cultivate neighborhood lands for small farming, soil health improvement
- New farmer incentives
- Beyond-affordable after school snack menu
- Employee Investment opportunity/business-shares/employee-owned
- Community Investment opportunity/business-shares/neighborhood-owned
- Opportunity for discussion and classes around community engagement, gardening, plant medicine, culinary arts for kids and adults, etc
- Providing space for other community interests on occasion/local chef pop-ups
The cafe will offer a small wine bar for the afternoon and evening crowds with a retail selection of bottled wines for sale along with a light evening menu of charcuterie, cheese, and more. We are looking to offer local-chef pop-up opportunities as well.
The cafe will offer limited indoor seating, limited outdoor seating (with heating or cooling available as needed) and we will have a light ambiance of tunes, fresh plants, cooking herbs, and minimal modern decor with natural elements; wood, metal, antiques, etc.
Our cafe will be supported by our local community garden where the chef will have an opportunity to grow specific foods for the deli. The garden also supports Sun Power Apothecary, a plant medicine business that will be featured in the general store section of the cafe.
A little background about me - I'm Aimee, a chef, restaurant consultant, food activist , musician, and former farmer's market manager in Los Angeles. I'm classically trained and self-taught, I pivoted into food activism after 12 years of professional and private cooking. This year I began small scale farming with the plan to expand on that in the 2022 growing season.
