Help orphanage in Bosnia

Imagine a world where every child has the opportunity to thrive....

Hi, my name is Nayla. I am a highschool student at Edmonton Islamic Academy in Alberta, Canada. In April, I will be embarking on an incredible journey of compassion and hope. I'm part of the Inspire Program organized by Islamic Relief Canada, and I'm heading to Bosnia to support an orphanage in need.

My parent already sponsor me for the trip, but I need to raise funds to support the programs in the orpahange where I will be volunteering.

But I can't do this alone. My goal is to raise $3000 by the start of April to support the orphanage directly. Your donation, no matter how small – even if it's the price of your breakfast or a cup of coffee – can truly change lives.

The Bosnian genocide left deep wounds that continue to affect generations. Many children lost their parents, leaving them to face unimaginable challenges: poverty, trauma, and uncertainty. These resilient young souls deserve a chance to heal, learn, and build a brighter future.

As someone who strives to make a positive impact in the world, this opportunity will be incredibly meaningful to me. By supporting me with my mission, I’ll be able to help with the cause hands-on through programs within the orphanage, rebuilding the community, and doing my part in this ummah.

The Inspire Program aims to provide vital psychosocial support to these children. This is crucial because it provides a structured framework for emotional support and mental well-being, helping them navigate the challenges of loss, trauma, and instability. By addressing psychological and social needs, such programming fosters resilience, emotional growth, and a sense of belonging—essential for their overall development and integration into society.

A previous volunteer who participated in this program shared this powerful reflection: "I genuinely came back a different and better person from this trip. I came into the trip nervous and doing something outside of my comfort zone, but I am so happy I went. I learned so much about myself and the world around me. I developed a sense of self-awareness, global awareness, gratefulness, hard work ethic, and a deeper sense of spiritual healing."

I deeply resonate with these words. I believe this trip will be a transformative experience for me as well. I am eager to step outside my comfort zone, learn about myself and the world around me, and contribute meaningfully to the lives of these children.
