Help Osiligi Osipa Montessori School
Hi all, I just returned from a trip to Tanzania, Africa, where my family and I visited several remote schools in Maasailand in order to donate soccer balls. The Maasai live in manyattas (small huts made of mud, cow dung, sticks, and grass) in a thorn enclosure called a boma with their cattle, sheep, goats, and donkeys. The Maasai children who are fortunate enough to go to school often have to walk long distances early in the morning in the presence of wildlife such as elephants, leopards, hyenas, etc. The school visit that impacted me most was Osiligi Osipa Montessori School in the Longido District. This school has no running water, electricity, or desks. Our guide told us how his company had donated money to build outdoor bathrooms for the school. He also told us they were hoping to build another classroom but did not have the funds to do so. With over 50 students and only one small classroom, this school is in desperate need of an expansion. This broke my heart and is why I want to raise the necessary funds to build the expansion. All donations to this cause will be used directly towards the materials and labor to construct another classroom. This expansion will allow the school to serve additional students and give these kids the opportunity they deserve to learn and grow.
