Help Save Otter the Pitbull Baked Potato

The best boy Otter the Pitbull + baked potato has been diagnosed with a rare adrenal tumor that’s growing into his blood vessels. He suffered a cardiac event and collapsed on January 7th and was rushed to his vet and then emergency transferred to Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital outside Philadelphia where he is currently in the ICU.

He had a near fatal heart rate of 300 upon arriving at the vet but that has been lowered and stabilized with medication at the Metro. Further testing shows he has a leaky heart valve that is also contributing to his high heart rate and murmur. Surprisingly, and in a spot of good news, his kidney values are only slightly elevated, which is positive news for a dog that has been in early stage renal failure for the past year (Go Otter!).

We have 2 options; surgery (which the vet advised is risky with his age and the blood vessel placement growth combined) OR we can manage and monitor it. Otter's humans have elected to manage and monitor him.

Otter can begin medication for his heart arrhythmia and high blood pressure. Metro is going to do some other non invasive tests and they’re starting him on the meds today, January 8th. He will stay overnight again to see how he does on the medication and hopefully he can come home tomorrow.

As you can imagine this is a HUGE financial burden and already the estimate is $4000-$6000 for the 2 nights ultrasounds, xrays, bloodwork, etc. Please help if you can to keep this old man potato around a little longer. Choosing this emergency care and future medical course for Otter was a no brainer - he was up and walking around at the vet despite having just suffered a cardiac event, wagging his tail when the staff came through and eating treats. He has a lot of fight in him for a dramatic 15 year old potato and we hope he hangs around with us for a lot longer ♡
