No one purchased these vehicles knowing they'd become symbols of hateful ideology. Rather than vandalize the cars of our neighbors and burden them with financial pain, let's productively put the pain right where it belongs. Let's get our friends out from being upside down with their Tesla's.
Exert our economic power - we’re sending a message to Tesla that their brand's symbology no longer aligns with the values of their primary customer base, and we won’t stand for that. So we’re taking the money from these vehicles and putting directly toward the fight for our rights.
The plan has two phases:
Phase 1
- Raise funds to offset the loss of individuals selling or donating their depreciated Tesla
- Sliding scale assistance given to get out of loans based on salary/income level
- Downpayment assistance for alternative car loan initiation based on salary/income level
Those wanting to get rid of their sw@sticars will need to do the following leg work to receive assistance:
- Find a buyer (Tesla dealer, private buyer, etc.)
- Show the agreed upon buyout amount and the amount you owe to get out of your loan
- Send us your salary/income and demonstrated need (this can remain private/redacted, but we will post amounts for transparency to the community)
- Provide photos of the car going away with proof of the sale
- Possible down payment assistance for new car provided on sliding income scale - must demonstrate need & ability to secure a new loan
Phase 2
- Crowdfund enough to start buying Tesla's directly from anyone who wants to sell
- We will pay full KBB value of your vehicle + $1,000 downpayment/registration assistance for your next vehicle, and if you are upside down on your loan, don't stress - we will pay off your loan + $1,000 downpayment assistance toward a new vehicle
- We will then donate the vehicle or 100% of the proceeds from us selling the vehicle (we will flip it) to the ACLU Foundation to fund the fight for our Constitutional Rights
The above steps will shift the financial burden and risk from our neighbors and get them out of their sw@sticars.
LGBTQ+ and BIPOC folks will get priority assistance. We will help anyone who wants to get out of their Tesla, but want to be sure we give priority help to the marginalized communities most targeted by extremist groups.
Example of funding assistance:
Car owner owes $17,500 on their Tesla
They receive a buyout offer of $15,000 from a dealership
We pay the $2,500 differential so they are not negatively financially affected
We give $1,000 down payment on their next loan initiation
We pay $500 toward their new registration costs
Approximately $4,000 to get someone out of a Tesla in this scenario
CURRENTLY IN THE WORKS:
- Establishing 501c(3) status for tax-exempt donations
- Assembling a team to manage this movement
- Build a website for people to submit requests for assistance to sell their Tesla’s
THE LONG TERM 5-PHASE VISION
Phase 1:
- We help you sell your Tesla & cover the gap in value between what you owe & what you can sell it for so you don't take a financial hit
- We help you with a new car downpayment & registration costs
Phase 2:
- We fundraise enough to buy Teslas outright from anyone who wants to sell
We either:
- Donate the vehicle to the ACLU Foundation (100% of your Tesla value will go to the fight for our Constitutional Rights!) or
- Sell the vehicle ourselves, then donate 100% of the cash to the ACLU
- We help you with a new car downpayment & registration costs
Phase 3:
- We pressure the next unethical free market business that has no associations or ties to Government contracts or administrations
Phase 4:
- We establish a private equity fund as a separate branch from the non-profit, modeled after the ACLU's business models
- FAFO Private Equity Fund For The People will buy businesses, ensure they establish ethical practices including diversity, equity and inclusion policies and cap C-level staff pay to rebuild the middle class in America
- We will make capitalism ethical and FOR THE PEOPLE
Businesses we buy will implement:
- CEO & C-Level Pay Caps
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Policies for all
- No Union Busting
- Raises for all employees to rebuild the middle class, which is what actually makes America great
We build a community of business professionals who pledge to FAFO Code of Ethics - we are drafting a Leadership Pledge of Ethics for MBA graduates & future C-Level Leaders
We will publicize business members on our website so your company and board knows who to hire - and we will hold them publicly accountable to their pledge
Phase 5:
- We overturn Citizens United and take away corporate lobbying power
