Help our badass mom recuperate from cancer
Donation protected
Hi friends, family, and kind strangers,
As some of you may know, our mom Jane was diagnosed with colorectal cancer this past May. If you know Jane, then you know she is a beacon of positivity and a youthful spirit whose zest cannot be crushed, even in the face of a debilitating illness. Through a summer of radiation and chemotherapy (and a bout of Covid in the middle) she has remained optimistic and continued to find joy and humor in life’s chaos.
We’re happy to report that she has completed radiation treatment and is doing well. Her oncology team will determine in the next few months whether surgery is necessary. Until then, she’s enjoying moving around a bit more, reading fashion magazines, and enjoying lots of goodies from her favorite new online emporium, Temu.
That being said, cancer is no walk in the park, even for the most optimistic. As she lives in an older and mustier home with multiple floors, we opted to move her to the Yale Suites (a hospital-owned hotel) for the duration of her treatment so she could be in the safest and most comfortable environment. This facility has been amazing in many ways, though it of course has come at a cost. Additionally, as we plan for her to return home in November, we’re hoping to get her house into the best working order for someone recuperating from cancer treatment. This will involve major plumbing repairs, professional cleaning services, replacement functioning appliances, and a lot of time and effort.
Our mother is the kind of person who asks for nothing. She is staunchly resourceful and has lived within her limited means for the last seventy-five years, abiding by one of her favorite mottos: We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.
Needless to say, we’re at the bridge. And as we, her four children, navigate this journey, we’re asking friends and family to kindly make a contribution to help us along the way. Seriously, anything at all makes a difference!
Thanks for reading, and we are so, so grateful for your support.
Thank you,
Candace, Heath, Zander, and Gwen
