Help our Ballerina overcome Scoliosis
Donation protected
My name is Tea, my 16-year-old step-daughter Emilia, has been studying ballet her whole life, and it is her dream to be a professional dancer and instructor. She dances 5 days a week for 4-7 hours a day in an intensive ballet program at one of the top ballet schools in the country. The one thing that hinders her chances of achieving her dream is her Scoliosis. She has mild Scoliosis of the spine, which means that her spine curves to the side; this physically limits Emilia's performance. For example, she can arabesque perfectly on her right side but can't get her leg high enough on the left because of the curve in her spine. We want Emilia to have every opportunity to succeed. After research, we found a chiropractic Doctor who has a specialized program that will significantly reduce her Scoliosis. It's a 16-week intensive program, and they are confident that given her age and how athletic she is, she has a strong chance of gaining the full range of motion that she needs for her career. Unfortunately, this 16-week medical program is not cheap - and insurance doesn't cover it. The doctor has given us every discount they can, but the cost is still over $11,000, and it has to be paid-in-full upfront or on a pay as we go on a week-to-week basis. After the initial 16 weeks, she will need to have semi-regular visits to the chiropractor to maintain the progress.
We believe that this is a life-changing opportunity for Emilia, and we want to do everything in our power to make it happen. But we can't do it alone. We need your help to give Emilia the chance to overcome her Scoliosis and give her the opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming a professional Ballerina.
All donations will go towards Emilia’s medical bills. These bills include the initial 16-week program, follow-up care and additional treatments to help her overall health and performance as an athlete.
