Help Our Brave Fighter: April Douglas' Medical
Donation protected
Dear Family, Friends, and Kind Supporters,
My name is Joseph Opanel, and today I reach out with a heavy heart and hope, asking for your support for my beloved sister, April Ann Douglas. Many of you know her as the vibrant soul who, despite the odds, has always carried a smile. However, life has thrown her an incredibly challenging battle.
Since her childhood, April has been a warrior. She faced cancer head-on, losing a kidney to cancer, undergoing grueling rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, which ultimately changed the way her body developed. Her resilience has been nothing short of inspirational.
Sadly, this New Year’s Eve marked the beginning of another harrowing chapter. April has been hospitalized since then, and while in the hospital recieved devastating news. Her only remaining kidney had failed. Now, she endures dialysis five times a week, three hours each session, to sustain her life.
The medical journey hasn’t been easy – emotionally, physically, or financially. On top of her current struggle, she’s grappling with the aftermath of a botched gallbladder surgery, a severe (VISA) infection, and a heart functioning at only 40% capacity. The urgency of her condition required a life flight to UCLA’s renowned liver center, adding to the escalating medical costs.
As of now, her medical bills have soared beyond $15,000, not including the expenses incurred in the last three weeks. And is no longer able to work as a Registered Nurse. This mountain of debt is a burden too heavy for any one family to bear, and it continues to grow with each passing day.
We are reaching out to you – our extended family, friends, and compassionate souls – to ask for your help. Any donation, no matter how small, will contribute significantly to alleviating the financial strain and allowing us to focus on what matters most – April Ann's health and recovery.
Your support means more than just financial aid; it is a gesture of love, hope, and solidarity in the face of adversity. Let’s come together to lighten the load for April and show her the strength of the community that surrounds her.
With heartfelt gratitude,
