Help For Britt Gunnarsen Proulx

As many of you have heard, Britt had become seriously ill on Mother’s Day. She collapsed in her home and was unconscious. She was transported to the emergency room via ambulance and was showing many symptoms including severe congestion, intense back spasms radiating through her body, organ malfunction and paralysis. The diagnoses included pneumonia, diabetic shock, blood infections (that led to her being put in isolation) and many more. After 10 painful days, it was determined she had a staph infection that traveled to her spine, requiring her to have immediate, emergency surgery. After over a month at the hospital, doing physical and occupational therapy, Britt was still confined to her bed, unable to move her legs, and in excruciating pain. She has not walked or used the bathroom independently.
It was determined that Britt was to be moved to a rehabilitation facility where she is currently. There have been ongoing battles with the insurance companies causing her treatment to be interrupted many times. The plan is to discharge her to her home and have in-home care three days a week. Britt's home is in an apartment located on the second floor. She has only taken 9 steps total since this incident started over 2 months ago- those steps were with the help of her therapists. She is not currently able to sit in a wheelchair due to complications from her spinal surgery. Transportation to her home and subsequent doctor visits would inevitably be complicated if not impossible.
Britt is an incredibly bright, outgoing and compassionate woman who has always had a passion for life. She has been working at the local Marshalls for over 20 years where she goes out of her way to change and impact every person she meets. She touches people to the core with her vibrant personality and sincerity. Over the past two months, she has started to feel the overwhelming magnitude and stress of her situation. She is frightened for her future. She is nervous about the impending medical bills, loss of income and ability to thrive.
We are asking for your help in hopes that with some financial relief, Britt will be able to concentrate on her treatment and return to a new normal. If you have a dollar to spare, it would go a long way. If you could share this on your feed hopefully we will be able to alleviate some of the financial burden and most importantly, reduce some of the stress Britt is feeling. We absolutely would love all the prayers and good intentions sent out into the universe.
