Help our Brother Art Shegonee visit new Doctor
Donation protected
Greetings to all our friends and relatives,
On behalf of our dear friend Art Shegonee we’re doing a go fund me to help with his current medical expenses and most importantly to help cover visiting a Doctor in Boston, MA in August.
Art’s Doctor Rice at UW Madison Waisman Center suggested he visit an internationally known Doctor specializing in his particular mitochondrial myopathy. It creates weakness in his body and in his muscle tissue. There is no cure for this disease, inherited only through his mother. The hope is to gain muscle strength in his legs enough to improve his ability to walk and continue to sustain a meaningful life.
For those who don’t know Art, he has been a traditional First Nations Dancer, and Ambassador to Wisconsin Indian Summer. He has supported and danced with Native groups, Brule, Bill Miller, Michael Jacobs, and Nick Hockings of the Waswagoning Indian Dance Theatre. Art’s last professional dance was in October 2016 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for a week long Tribute to Johnny Cash where he performed with three time Grammy Award Winner Bill Miller. Art and his wife Dawn are co-founders of the Call For Peace Drum & Dance Company.
He has been an amazing educator, advocate for Peace and Justice, and a protector of Mother Earth throughout his life. It’s important to Art’s spirit to to stay active on behalf of his Grandkids and fellow Brothers and Sisters.
Your help in this new effort would greatly be appreciated!
