Help our cat, Turtle with her Medical Expenses
Donation protected
We've had our cat, Turtle (and her sister, Raindrop), for seven years now. She is one of the sweetest and most chill cats we have ever met, and mostly just wants to cuddle all day.
Last week we had to rush Turtle to SPCA Emergency Care after she wasn't eating and collapsed on the floor. She has always been a generally healthy cat fed an excellent diet, so her sudden shift in health was a surprise. X-rays revealed she had a collapsed lung due to some sort of fluid filling it. The vet told us we should brace for the worse, as the most common cause of this in house cats is heart failure or cancer. They said they would drain the fluid so they could be comfortable but to be prepared as the outlook was bleak...
And then, a miracle happened. The vet called back, surprised and delighted. When they went to drain the fluid they found it was actually pus, Turtle had an infection. A very bad infection but the good news was that it was treatable and she would likely experience a full recovery. However, the cost of treatment would be high and we had to act quickly. We gritted our teeth but we knew the only choice would be to make it work. We couldn't let a living creature die of something treatable, much less someone we loved as much as we love Turtle. We transferred Turtle to the wonderful OakVet Animal Speciality Hospital where they flushed the infection from her and began antibiotic therapy. They also checked to make sure it was just an infection, and thankfully it was.
The expenses are high and ongoing as she spends the next month or so getting back to full health. We are asking for any help folks can give in supporting the treatments and recovery. All donations will go to pay the vet bills and treatments which are currently just over $8000. You have Turtle, Raindrops, and our eternal gratitude for your generosity.
