Help Our Dad Following Severe Motorcycle Accident
Donation protected
Hi, our name's are Lindsay, Autumn & Cortney. We are the three daughters of Lloyd Youngblood who was in a traumatic motorcycle accident on October 20, 2023. Our Dad, who was in town visiting us on the 1 year anniversary of our mother's passing, was out riding his motorcycle enjoying the last of the nice weather, when he was unexpectedly hit by a car who ran a stop sign on Woodruff Ave. The accident resulted in many injuries, with the most damage being done to the right foot. He has been in the hospital since the accident and underwent multiple surgeries in an attempt to save his right foot, as well as to repair fractures in the left foot. Sadly, the damage done to the right foot was too great and the only option remaining was a below the knee amputation. The amputation surgery took place 12/4/23. He lost a lot of blood and is currently in ICU. The amount of blood loss is causing issues to the vital organs. This already horrible situation has been made worse by many set backs regarding insurance, and our dad will likely be discharged with a high amount of medical debt. Additionally, the man who hit him did not have car insurance and has had multiple criminal charges, the worst and most recent of which was felony possession of a controlled substance, happening only two weeks prior to hitting our dad.
Lloyd is 71 years old, and was one year away from being able to retire. He has worked so hard his entire life and was finally ready to enjoy the rest of it with family and friends, and his favorite hobbies (motorcycles and golf). This life changing accident will affect him for the rest of his life and he has a very long road ahead. We appreciate all the love and support we have recieved thus far and if you feel lead to contribute it will go toward medical bills, any furture surgeries, a prosthetic limb, and loss of work. We also want to express our sincere gratitude to all those who stopped to help our dad immediately following the accident, keeping him as calm as possible during a very scary situation. Big thanks to the EIRMC trauma team, Dr. Woodall, Dr. Van Dyke, and Dr. Mennear as well.
We would like to conclude this by urging the importance of motorcycle awareness so our loved ones can make it home safely to us. Thank you for your continued prayers, may your angels always ride with you.
