Help our Donna

Hey everyone, I’m Ciara and I'm raising money for my incredible mummy. We really need your support right now. It feels so surreal and like we’re stuck in a nightmare. Our family has been fighting through this quietly, but it’s time to reach out and get help from all the amazing people who know and love our Donna.

We know we’re not alone in this battle against cancer—1 in 2 people will be affected by it at some point. It’s such a cruel disease, and I’m determined to do everything I can to help my mum and give her the best options.

In July 2024, Mum got the devastating news that she has stage four breast cancer, and it’s the triple-negative kind, which is pretty rare and tough to treat. It makes up about 15% of all invasive breast cancer cases. She started chemo in August, but unfortunately, all three different chemo treatments have failed. Her strength, positivity, and resilience are inspiring, but despite her fighting spirit, the cancer keeps spreading with each 8-week scan. Her oncologist isn’t giving up, and neither are we. He suggested a treatment called Enhertu, which is her best shot at getting this awful disease under control. Unfortunately, Enhertu isn’t widely available right now because of a price disagreement between the manufacturers and the NHS, and NICE hasn’t recommended it for routine use because they don’t think the price is reasonable.

My mum’s health shouldn’t be about money, and that’s why I’m reaching out to all of you who know and care for her. She’s always been the kindest person, putting everyone else first and never asking for help herself. This fundraiser isn’t something she wanted me to do as she doesn’t like to put anyone out , and we know everyone has their own struggles, but we really do need support.

I know this might come as a shock, and it’s still hard for me to even write this. If you can help us, we would be so grateful. Every little bit helps to give our Donna the best chance at getting her life back. Enhertu would be given every three weeks and could continue for up to seven months. She’ll still be under NHS care, but the treatment costs £2400 for each dose of this potentially life-saving drug. We need to do everything we can to raise the money for this. I promise that every penny will go towards helping our Donna.
