Help our friend Bun Bun get through university

I'm starting this gofundme for a friend of mine in a third world developing country. Here is what she has to say-

Hi everyone, I'm Impala or Bun Bun, I live in Trinidad and Tobago. My current laptop has a bunch of issues, the most recent one is that the screen is all wonky. It basically looks like scrambled cable from the ‘90s! the total cost to fix everything is about the same as buying a new one (that includes shipping since the stores I've been to say I need to buy the components online).

I am also a new university Student attending University of the People pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree in computer science. Given the nature of the course, a fully working computer is required. I would require the computer to have a dedicated graphics card and that is one of the most important components that I would require.

I do have a job but it doesn’t make enough to purchase a computer with the specs I require. I’ll be converting the currency in my money to US dollars. I make a little less than $600 USD a month. The main chunk of my salary goes towards transport and personal expenses, which is around $400. Now that I am in university, the cost of each module is $120 USD per term. This makes it quite difficult to purchase a computer on my own and I greatly appreciate any help.
