Help our friend Vic Vela; He always helps us!

We are hosting this fundraiser for our dear friend Vic Vela. You may know Vic from his powerful, award-winning podcast "Back from Broken." He’s dedicated his life to helping people who struggle with addiction and mental health issues. Vic is a recovering crack cocaine addict living with HIV. He’s been sober for 9 years.

Practically every time we call Vic, he’s on the other line talking to a friend who is struggling or composing a hopeful social media message to a follower who had reached out for help.

This is who he is.

Through his podcast, platform and voice, Vic has helped thousands of people on the road to recovery.

Now he needs our help.

Vic’s former employer, Colorado Public Radio, mocked and fired Vic when he started talking about his recovery and needs for accommodation during a difficult year.

Now, even though he gave his heart and soul to CPR for over a decade, they are opposing Vic’s unemployment claim. CPR was more than happy to earn money and esteem from Vic’s work and “Back from Broken” podcast, but resented and rejected his own recovery needs.

Vic needs our help to pay for things like rent, healthcare premiums and vital HIV and diabetes medications, which are expensive. He's unemployed and looking for work, but it's hard to use an employer as a reference that just fired you after nine years. He needs help paying day-to-day expenses just to get by.
