Help our friends Simon & Mina Tharwat in Egypt
Donation protected
Our friends Simon & Mina Tharwat got in serious trouble due to Corona and we want to avoid that they lose everything.
Simon is a very valued and well-known tour guide in Egypt and his brother Mina is a great tailor. They started Best Friends Fashion Wear in 2018 with a small stitching company to generate income for their family while Simon kept working as a tour guide. The business was running well and they had been able to employ 10 sewers. In February this year they opened their own apparel shop in the city center of Aswan to extend their reach and to sell their self-made clothes locally.
Unfortunately, Corona came in between, the tourists stayed away because of travel restrictions, lockdowns were introduced, business hours had to be reduced and many people lost their jobs. Simon had his last tour in March and Mina had to dismiss already 8 employees because of lacking orders. Both are not sitting back and still trying to find alternatives jobs but so far they had no luck at all and as their situation is now getting even more dramatic, they need help.
The financial distress of Covid19 is unprecedented. Depts are building up since March as they haven’t been able to pay their rents and the loan, used to startup their business. The only income which they have is from their “Best friends” business which is at the moment just enough to pay 2 employees and to get some food on the table for their family. On top of that their bank canceled their loan and demands immediate repayment of one third (EGP 100.000) and the repayment of the remaining amount (EGP 200.000) by next year. If they are not able to pay back the money in time, and currently they are not, the bank will take away their business and they will be left without any income. Meaning also that the risk of losing the roof over their heads is increasing. As it will still take time until the tourism and economy in Egypt will recover we would like to give them a helping hand before it’s too late.
Please help them to get on their feet again, so they can hopefully overcome this incredibly difficult period and continue their business.
Your help means a lot to us, but it means even more to Simon & Mina and their family.

What will the money be used for?
1) ASAP paying back EPG 100.000 (EUR 5.420) of the loan as requested by the bank
2) Paying back the depts of EGP 148.000 (EUR 8.000) which build up by not paying the rent for 8 months
3) Paying the rents on time for the coming 4 months EGP 74.000 (EUR 4.000)
4) Paying back the remaining EGP 200.000 (EUR 10.840) of the loan
How will the donations reach Simon & Mina?
Egypt is not yet a supported country and therefore we will send donations regularly via www.transferwise.com to the bank account of Simon. In order to keep the transfer fees low and to support them continuously, we will send it in batches of a minimum of EUR 300 and will post an update with a screenshot of the transfer for every batch.
