Help our Keith and Wendy Keen
Donation protected
Dear Colleague,
It is with a very heavy heart that we write to you all, to make you aware of an unfortunate situation within our AK community.
Very long-time supporter, board member, teacher, mentor and life member of our organisation Dr Keith Keen, and his wife Wendy find themselves in a very difficult position both emotionally and financially.
Dr Keith, now 80 years old, has in the past few years has had to undergo several major operations. Unfortunately, as is the often the case, he suffered reactions including several strokes which have left him to large degree incapacitated and with limited ability to work.
They have relied upon Wendy ‘s work to cover their day to day living expenses.
Tragically Wendy also had to undergo major surgery late last year which also went horribly wrong leaving her almost totally unable to stand for any longer than a few minutes at a time, rendering her unable to work in her usual capacity. Keith has become her full-time carer and has had to give up his work on a very limited basis.
Sadly, they are falling further behind financially.
Dr Keith has been and continues to be a generous and voluntary contributor to the organisation and to teaching AK. I know that he has touched thousands of doctor’s lives both new and experienced. Many of you would have been exposed to the AK club at Macquarie University, when Keith gave up his time to teach undergraduates at no cost, and the many hundreds of hours teaching AK around the country. Many of the teaching diplomates have Keith to thank for where they are now.
The time has come to repay some of his generosity. We as a board have thought long and hard as to the best way to help out, and decided that setting up a Go Fund Me campaign is the best way to do so.
We personally appeal to you to donate what you feel you are able to, be it large or small.
I would also urge you to NOT make it known to Keith at this stage, he is both a stoic and proud man and we don’t want to risk offending him, rather give him a parcel of funds from a grateful AK community.
We appeal to you to help relieve some of their burden until they can get back on their feet.
Yours sincerely
