Why We Need Your Help
Three weeks ago, the COVID-19 crisis forced Comp Sci High to close its doors and shift to remote learning for our 220 students and families. Our building was closed by the city at 5pm on a Sunday night. One day later, we had delivered wifi and Chromebooks to our students and successfully completed our first day of remote classes.
We promise our students and families that we would prepare them for college and for the careers of the future. This crisis has changed everything...except that promise.
Who We Are
Comp Sci High is a computer science high school in the Bronx whose mission is to ensure every student goes to college and graduates with high tech skills and real work experience to build a successful career.
Last year, our scores put us in the top 2% of all Bronx high schools, and top 6% of all high schools in NYC.
And in the last few weeks, our students have
● Launched a new literary magazine
● Designed video games in Python
● Explored the Physics of bottle flipping in Physics
● Debated the use of violence in the 20th-century labor movement
Comp Sci High is a special place. We want to keep it that way. But, we need your help.
1. We need to raise funds to help our families, who are already reaching out to us for help with basics like groceries and medical supplies. The money that we set aside each year for emergency support will not come close to the need, and
2. We need more support to make sure we can continue to provide students with wifi and Chromebooks through June, and
Please help us support our families and serve our kids:
● $200 covers two weeks of groceries for one of our families
● $300 buys a Chromebook for one of our students
● $500 covers a month of internet access for all our students who don’t have it at home.
We know these are hard times for all, but we are asking for your help. Any support for our students and families will go a long way.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
- The teachers and staff of Comp Sci High
