Help our Little Ray of Sunshine - Gaby

The greatest love one can experience is that of a parent for a child. When you have a child, your life has a newfound purpose. Life is no longer about you, but about your little ray of sunshine. Their hopes and dreams become yours. From the moment they’re born to the moment they leave the nest, you give your child all your love and tools for success, so that they may fly on their own when you’re no longer around. At the end of the day, that’s all a parent could ask for: for their child to be happy and self-sufficient. But what happens when your little ray of sunshine is unable to fully understand the world around them? When you notice that they’re struggling to learn the basic tools needed to succeed without you? When you’ve sought the help of multiple experts only to hit dead-ends and find yourself financially-strained and with little improvement?
Well, you turn to your community, and you keep trying, because it’s your little ray of sunshine, and you want to give them their best shot.
Gaby is our little ray of sunshine. She’s the sweetest, most innocent 11-year-old you’ll ever meet. She loves unconditionally and is extremely affectionate. Like any child her age, she also loves posing for pictures and can be sassy at times. Despite her young age, Gaby is a role model to those around her, as she is unapologetically true to herself and approaches life with a positive attitude in spite of her issues. You will always find her smiling no matter what.
We wish we could tell you what Gaby is dealing with, but the truth is we’re not quite sure. At 11 years old, Gaby is at the cognitive and motor skill level of a six to seven year-old. As a family, we are very concerned for Gaby and want to give her her best shot. After going to various specialists including several neurologists and psychologists, Gaby has received multiple different diagnoses such as autism, OCD, and general speech delay. Her parents, Javier and Martha, have spent countless hours and accumulated many bills getting different opinions and putting Gaby in speech therapy with little improvement over the course of several years.
Recently, Javier and Martha learned about a specialized program with promising results for children in Gaby’s situation. This six-week program would pull Gaby out of school for six weeks to perform several interventions and therapies meant to target different parts of the brain dealing with important cognitive and motor skills. We truly believe this will make a difference in Gaby’s life and help her get closer to the cognitive/motor level she’s supposed to be at.
Unfortunately, this program is very costly due to its specialized nature and extensive research-driven approach. Javier and Martha are looking at yet another expense, and this time it comes to the tune of $40,000. This is a lot of money, and they need any help they can get.
We are asking the help of our community in giving our little ray of sunshine her best shot. Gaby is still young, and this program could work wonders. If you can help make a difference in this little girl’s life by donating any amount at all and sharing this page, we would be extremely grateful, and we know Gaby would too.
