Help our loved Claudia fight Cancer

Some of you may know Claudia, some of you may not. However, at some point in your life, surely you have met someone like her – you would remember if so. She has the kind of personality that captivates a room, the kind of personality for which no moment is too big.

Claudia is a faithful child of God, a loving mother of 4, a wife to Raul, Tia to many and a fantastic friend!

About a month ago our loved Claudia was diagnosed with a type of bile duct cancer, AKA adenocarcinoma, consistent with intrahepatic primary (cholangiocarcinoma). On September 15th Claudia was living her everyday life taking care of her loved ones, and the next day her eyes turned yellow; a doctor's visit turned out to be an indefinite hospital stay. After multiple CT scans, MRIs etc., Claudia received the diagnosis no one ever is prepared to listen to, "you have cancer."

Accompanied by the diagnosis comes a thousand unknowns. Claudia is preparing to have a chemotherapy regimen that could take about 2-3 months until the tumor is reduced to an operable size. In the meantime, she has also had painful stents placed in an attempt to lower elevated bilirubin levels in her blood (high bilirubin causes jaundice, a medical condition with yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes). Things change by the minute, and there are still lots of unknowns.

If you know Claudia, you know that she wants to be the one that people come to for help; but everyone needs to be able to lean on someone, and right now, Claudia needs our help.

The Suazo's only source of income is from Raul's (the husband) small business & Claudia has dedicated herself to taking care of the kids (Bryan, Sara, Cris and Kenneth). A diagnosis like this has taken Raul's mental and physical energy from work (rightfully so!). He has been spending nights at the hospital for the last month, taking care of the kids and still carrying the family's financial burden. Meanwhile, the bills keep mounting at the hospital and the Suazos' household.

I am blessed to call Claudia my aunt, one of my best friends and a second mom figure! I can describe her as one of the funniest, selfless souls I've ever met. Even though she is focused on getting well, she can't help but think about her family's well-being while in the hospital.

Please help me, help Claudia and her family, fight this battle by sending prayers and donating.
