Help our mom, Anne, with her medical expenses

Hello friends and family,
Our mother, known by many as mama A or Annie Bananie, was admitted to the hospital early August after basic motor and movement functions started to depreciate. Her health was rapidly declining and she lost the ability to walk on her own.
She remained mostly bedridden during her hospital stay and took countless tests to understand the cause for her movement and coordination issues. She received possible diagnoses related to movement disorders and the Neurologists believed, which was confirmed, she has a rare neurodegenerative disease called multiple system atrophy.
She was transferred to a rehab center for 3 weeks (the max time covered by insurance) to help her build her strength. The rehab was to help her adjust to her new normal. Her mobility relies on the use of a walker or wheelchair. On her strongest day she was able to make small strides with an aid and walker ranging from a couple shuffled steps to a couple hundred feet, and on other days she’s limited to sitting. This disease also limits coordination which makes things like using the bathroom difficult.
Treatment
Our mom met with a neurologist on 10/19/21 who confirmed her diagnosis of MSA. She will meet with them again end once her insurance is updated. In the interim her treatment plan requires a full time aid to monitor her and help her with her activities of daily living which is currently her daughter since her insurance doesn’t cover at home care (showering, going to the bathroom, getting dressed).
Unfortunately her insurance declined approvals for a blood pressure stabilizing medication to ease symptoms.
There is no cure or medication to slowdown the disease - just an adjustment to life.
Medical Costs
The copay to get an aid is $5,353/month on top of living expenses. We’re currently navigating the financial logistics to get her the best care possible.
Our Mom
Anne is 70 years young who was living alone and working full time as a paralegal. She was intending to work for several more years to help her save for retirement. For those of you who know her she’s always been one to give and provide for everyone else and now it’s our turn to give back to her.
We’re staying hopeful and will shoot for the stars!
Any contribution to help with medical expenses and adjust her lifestyle to these changes are greatly appreciated.
From the entire Avellaneda crew - thank you!
