Help Our Mom Defeat Breast Cancer
Donation protected
A couple months ago, Karen noticed a lump in her breast. Scared to go get it checked out, she tried to convince herself it was probably just a cyst.
A few weeks ago, she finally went to the doctor. She couldn’t afford to have a biopsy done at the time, but based on other factors, the doctor confirmed it is in fact cancer.
Karen doesn’t have insurance, so she has to be very selective about what tests she has done. So right now we don’t know how advanced this cancer is or if it has spread.
This is why we are asking for help.
For those of you who know Karen, you know that she is a light in a dark room. She is a loud, eccentric, funny, beautiful soul who is the life of the party wherever she goes. She loves to dance and sing even though she can’t, and she knows it. And she loves to laugh and joke around.
The first thing my mom did after she told me she had breast cancer was make a joke about it. That’s just who she is. And that’s how she taught her children to be – strong. But inside I know she is very scared and so is her family.
Karen is one of the most dedicated and selfless people out there. She always puts everyone else’s needs before her own, but now it’s her turn.
She doesn’t know about this fundraising campaign yet, and we don’t plan to tell her until we have raised some money for her. She would feel embarrassed if she knew we were raising money for her medical expenses. She is a prideful person, as are her children, but our love for her is infinitely more important than our pride which is why we are here asking for your help.
As mentioned before, Karen doesn’t have medical insurance. This means that every visit, test, procedure, treatment, and medication is going to be paid for directly out of pocket. Your donations would help cover some of these things as well as other expenses like time off work, mortgage payments, etc.
Right now our main priorities and first steps in this process are to get her the biopsy and then after that will likely be surgery. We don’t know what is to come after that, but we will provide updates as often as we have them.
We love our mom more than words could ever express and we don’t want to lose her.
She is ready to go to war, but to win this battle, she needs your help.
Will you help us fight?
