Help Our Mom have a fighting chance

Donation protected
On Oct 15, we were given the worst news possible. We were told our mother was laying in a clinic in South America pretty much on her death bed. We don't really have family down there so it was hard to communicate with doctors or anyone who was able to give us accurate information so one of the 3 kids had to go to South America to make sure she was ok. Chris arrived in Bolivia on Oct 19 and was told the only way to save her life was to transfer her to a proper facility but we had to pay $6,000 and no medicine was even administered. Not sure if you are aware but they do not accept insurance in these countries and they will not release the patient until your bill is fully paid. After paying the bill she was moved to a facility where she was given much better care but at the same time we also found out she had Covid and Covid Pneumonia. This is the day she began to fight for her life. She had a 50% chance to live because the right inferior lobe of her lung was compromised and she was having a pulmonary thrombosis. They were able to help with the blood clotting but she continued to have respiratory distress. She is currently sedated and has been for over 3 weeks. She has just recently gone thru a tracheostomy as she had been on the ventilator for more than 18 days, but she is moving in the right direction and is responding well to treatment. She is definitely a fighter but unfortunately our financial resources have become scarce and we are going to have to ask for assistance. We have already spent 36,000 US dollars and doctors in South America will not continue treatment without payment in advance, they are charging about $1500 US dollars a day and she is in great need of additional days in the hospital to continue her recovery. We have made numerous calls to her Insurance Company Blue Cross Blue Shield, but they will not cover her as it is overseas. Anything you can give is more than appreciative. We are all she has, she is not married and lives alone. She was visiting South America because she was born there and she likes to visit her country every summer. Please find it in your heart to help with anything at all. We will be forever grateful. She definitely has a long road ahead of her.
