Help Our Mom, Kathy Ferrell, Fight Cancer.

Hi my name is April, a few weeks ago we found out our mom, Kathy Ferrell, will have the biggest fight of her life. We found out she has Pancreatic cancer.

Today our mom found out the cancer has spread to her stomach and is Stage 4. Surgery is out now. They will put a port in to start chemotherapy in 2 weeks to see if it will even help. As of now they are giving our mom months to a year.

I understand people don't know our mom and the ones that do, well let's say sometimes she could be a very tough woman to be around but we love her no matter what!

My mom use to do anything for anyone till the bitter World got to her then she started defending for herself but we all loved no matter what!

The night of May 2, 2023, my sister, Amanda, and my oldest son, James, went to our parents house to help with some tree limbs that were in the yard. Our parents had people scheduled to mow their yard on May 4, 2023, so the tree limbs needed to be moved.

While they were there, my sister went into the house to check on our mom. When she tried to talk, she made no sense. She was confused on who people were. She kept telling my sister she her mother or Patricia. No one knows a Patricia. My sister called 911. The ambulance got there and took her to Baylor of Dallas. They ran several test. She was diagnosed with several things. 1) Toxic Metabolic Encephalopathy; 2) Diabetes Mellitus and Nutrition for Adults; 3) 3 different strokes a) Transient Ischemic Attack b) Hemorrhagic strock c) Ischemic Stroke 4) Carotid Artery Stenosis.

At this time the doctor is not sure if her chemo triggered any of her strokes or TME. We have decided to drop her chemo down to half dose to see how she does. If she does not have any strokes then the doctor will slowly increase the dose.

Tomorrow will be our mom's second dose of chemo and she is scared. After her first treatment, she is already losing her hair. Please keep her and the family in prayers.
