Help our Mom Linda Bolduc transition peacefully

Donation protected
Hi everyone. This is Chris (again) writing on behalf of me and my brothers.

We never thought we’d have to ask for help again so soon after my twin brother Brian’s liver transplant. Asking for help doesn’t seem to get easier, but here we are.

First of all, don’t worry about my twin, in part thanks to your support, after a harrowing few years, Brian is doing really well post-transplant, staying healthy and loving life.

So we were extra devastated when our mother, Linda Bolduc, called us just two weeks ago to say she hadn’t been feeling well and found a lump in her neck. She agreed to go to the doctor—which, for those of you who know her, she never does. The doctor sent her straight to the ER, where they found Stage IV metastatic lung cancer that already spread to her bones. She has gotten so sick so quickly; she is no longer able to get out of bed, and there is little the doctors can do beyond trying to ease her pain. That is to say—she is dying.

The shock of her diagnosis and our limited means to manage care and costs has left us feeling overwhelmed.

We are shook—just weeks ago Mom cleaned one of her clients’ homes. And, despite difficult circumstances and losing her husband, she has been a caretaker for us boys, most recently helping Brian through the terror of the liver transplant and continuing to care for Adam as he manages his disability. We’re figuring out what it means to be her carers now as she transitions.

Our Mom is so many things: resilient, resourceful, talented, selfless, and a committed mother. Despite her limited means on a Social Security income and food stamps, she has managed to make ends meet. However, with her diagnosis and the added costs that come along with being sick, it’s proving very difficult.

With your donation, we will make her remaining time as comfortable as possible. We will use it to pay for at-home services, medical equipment, hospital-related costs including parking, travel-related costs to coordinate care, and funeral costs. And we’ll make sure that we can handle the costs of her condo going into probate as Adam moves to his own place.

Additionally, we want to use your donation to be able to have a small exhibition of her art to invite you to enjoy her talent and spirit since she is a very talented artist, albeit quite shy about it.

Mom doesn’t have the financial resources for any of this, and with Adam on disability and Brian working for a non-profit that pays way too little for the amazing work he does, it’s the last thing we want to be worrying about right now. If you can help us with the costs for her care and funeral expenses and to make sure Adam has a place to land, we’d be so grateful. Knowing that these costs are covered will help give her the peace she needs now.

And if you can come join us to celebrate her life, we’d love that too. We’ll post more details when we have them.

With hugs and hope,

Chris, Adam, and Brian
