Help Our Parents Beat Cancer!

On June 9, 2020, our mother, Debra Barcant, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. This took a huge emotional toll on us as our mother is the backbone of our family. Nothing would be possible without her. Following this devastating news, our father, Keith Barcant, was diagnosed with an inoperable malignant brain tumour in July, 2020, not even a full month after our mom’s diagnosis. This news shattered us all. If you know our dad, you know that he is the most generous, giving person who will do anything for anybody. To say that the last few months have been overwhelming would be an understatement.
We are a family of five from Trinidad & Tobago. My brothers, Luc and Zac Barcant, and myself, Paige Barcant, are sharing our story on behalf of our parents.

We quickly received a rough draft of a treatment plan for our mom. This would entail approximately six months of chemotherapy (in progress), followed by two major surgeries, radiation therapy, and possibly further chemotherapy. Our dad has already begun his own treatment of chemotherapy and radiation therapy, however the future of his treatment plan is uncertain as of right now. We are elated to say that we have already seen progress from the treatment of both parents thus far, however, we want to see them complete treatment and become cancer-free. We can’t fathom a life without one of our parents, far less without both. Unfortunately, continuing treatment without your help is not possible. No amount is too small to give. We know that 2020 has already been an extremely economically challenging year for most, so we ask that if you are unable to donate that you please share our story. We also want to thank every one of you who has shown support in some way. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the calls, the messages, the prayers, the flowers, the meals, everything. We cannot express our gratitude for the outpouring support that has been shown thus far. -With heartfelt thanks, Luc, Zac, and Paige, on behalf of our family.
