Help Our Parents, Hurricane Helene destoyed their home!

We are Lina and Lorena, sisters raising funds for our parents, Edgar and Zoraida, whose home was tragically destroyed by Hurricane Helene.

We are a family from a distant land who made United Estates our home a few years ago, we are residents of the City of Gainesville in the estate of Florida.

On the night of September 26, our world changed in an instant. As the storm intensified, our parents were at home in Gainesville, spending the evening with Lorena, playing board games to pass the time while the hurricane raged outside. They were in the living room of the mobile home Edgar and Zoraida had proudly purchased a few years ago — their first and only home in the United States.

Although they had weathered storms before, something felt different that night. The howling winds and cracking of trees were relentless. At around 10:55 p.m., the unimaginable happened: a massive tree from the vacant lot next door snapped at its base and came crashing down directly onto the house. The deafening noise of the impact shattered windows, rattled the whole house with unreal violence and sent fear rushing through them. Lina, who lives nearby, heard the crash and immediately called, fearing the worst.

The tree landed right on top of the master bedroom — the very place our parents would have been if Lorena hadn’t come over to spend time with them. Thanks to that twist of fate, their lives were spared, but their home was completely destroyed, leaving them without a place to live.

Tragically, they do not have insurance to cover the cost of replacing their home. This leaves them in an incredibly vulnerable position, without the resources to recover from such a devastating loss.

We are turning to our friends, family, and community for help. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference in helping our parents rebuild their lives. The funds raised will go directly toward:

Somos Lina y Lorena, hermanas que estamos recaudando fondos para nuestros padres, Edgar y Zoraida, cuyo hogar fue trágicamente destruido por el huracán Helene.

La noche del 26 de septiembre, nuestro mundo cambió en un instante. Mientras la tormenta se intensificaba, nuestros padres estaban en casa, en Gainesville, pasando la noche con Lorena, jugando juegos de mesa para pasar el tiempo mientras el huracán rugía afuera. Estaban en la sala de estar de la casa móvil que Edgar y Zoraida habían comprado con orgullo hace algunos años, su primer y único hogar en los Estados Unidos.

Aunque ya habían enfrentado tormentas antes, esa noche se sintió diferente. Los vientos aullantes y el crujir de los árboles eran implacables. Alrededor de las 10:55 p.m., ocurrió lo inimaginable: un enorme árbol del terreno baldío vecino se partió desde la base y cayó directamente sobre la casa. Lina, que vive cerca, escuchó el estruendo e inmediatamente llamó, temiendo lo peor.

El árbol cayó justo sobre el dormitorio principal, el lugar donde estarían nuestros padres si Lorena no hubiera ido a pasar tiempo con ellos. Gracias a esa vuelta del destino, sus vidas se salvaron, pero su hogar quedó completamente destruido, dejándolos sin un lugar donde vivir.

Trágicamente, no tienen seguro que cubra los costos de reemplazar su casa. Esto los deja en una posición increíblemente vulnerable, sin los recursos para recuperarse de una pérdida tan devastadora.
