Help our region heal with Appalachian Community Relief
Donation protected
Hey y'all,
In the early aftermath of Hurricane Helene, Black Mountain local Allison Hargus had heard a water truck was coming to Black Mountain so she showed up to help. Over three weeks later, she's been showing up ever since along with many other community volunteers and her water distribution efforts have grown into a much bigger operation providing food, water, clothing, household supplies, baby supplies, clothing, tools, and a whole lot more. Through mobile supply drops and a car line and now more recently an in-person free store, we've been able to serve thousands of people in our community. In fact, in our first day of in-person shopping, we provided food, water, & supplies to folks shopping for an estimated 1500 people.
We have received generous donations from numerous states and incredible support from dozens of amazing & committed volunteers as well as the National Guard, 101st Airborne, a variety of state agencies, the Town of Black Mountain, and of course the incredible generosity of the Black Mountain Ingles to allow us space in their garden center.
But we still need your help too!
With the long road ahead for recovery in our region, we need the financial support to continue the work we're doing in helping heal our valleys & hollers through food, water, & supply relief. Your generous contributions will be used to:
- cover the legal & filing fees to create a nonprofit providing us with better organizational and financial structure for long term sustainability.
- find and fund a rental warehouse facility to house inventory through the winter.
- purchase of office supplies/start up materials for daily operations.
- cover trucking/transportation costs for moving inventory, storage materials/shelving, & fuel/maintenance costs for mobile supply runs.
- allow us to purchase needed & specialty items for community members in addition to food, water, & household supplies.
We are so grateful for all the incredible partners we've made already and we hope you join us in our mission to help our beautiful valley and its people recover and thrive.
Thank you!

Allison Hargus
