Help our sister Brenda Jordan battle Breast Cancer
Donation protected
To know our sister is to love her. To some she’s known as Brenda, and others know her as BeJay, but since being diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer she’s known by everyone as “bad ass”. If you ask her, she’ll tell you she has a large army of support which she lovingly refers to as her #StormSquad, but don’t let her fool you… BeJay has faced this storm head-on since day 1 with her head held high and seemingly without fear. Showing all of us, including her daughters Tristen (27), Lexi (17), and Maleya (12), what it means to Be.The.Storm.
On October 10, 2023 BeJay was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer (triple negative invasive ductile carcinoma). She began chemo and immunotherapy treatments shortly after diagnosis. On January 16, 2024 BeJay began weekly chemotherapy treatments. Her “marathon treatment” as she calls it. 12 more weeks of chemo, every Tuesday. 12 more weeks of being sick without catching a break. 12 more weeks of nausea. 12 more weeks of pain throughout her body. 12 more weeks of restless nights. 12 more weeks of possibly not being able to get any days of work in. Now is the time she needs our help. All of this before she has a double mastectomy and lymph node removal. We don’t yet know the specifics of her treatment after surgery, but she’s looking at 4-6 weeks of recovery from the surgery and 4-7 weeks of radiation 5 days a week, a year of immunotherapy, and potentially additional chemo treatments. She has a long road ahead of her.
BeJay is the heart and soul of her community. She LOVES volleyball and has coached and played for many local leagues and teams. She is a member of both St. Francois County Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce. She has worked for a small business in Farmington that she loves for 10 years, and has spent that time building friendships across Southeast MO. In addition to this GoFundMe page and the StormSquad Store, we are putting together a volleyball tournament fundraiser on April 27th, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Elementary School in Farmington. How perfect is that?! Did you know right before her diagnosis she was officially licensed by MSHAA to referee school games? Like, officially. She even has a uniform! Details will be coming soon but it will be a FUN day with something for EVERYONE. Mark your calendars!
Our sister is one of the strongest women we know. She’s approaching each treatment like a checklist of things to get through, counting down each one until the moment she is clear and can get back to playing sand volleyball, camping at the river, and enjoying time with her friends and family. As her sisters, we are so grateful for all the love and support that her community has given her so far. We appreciate each and every one of you. If you find it in your heart to donate, we know BeJay will appreciate it. We know she’ll feel guilty for accepting money when other people are faced with worse situations, and she would never ask for herself. But we also know that she will be extremely grateful to each and every one of you, whether you donate $1, $1000, or simply say a prayer for her and her girls. The love and support she has received since October is overwhelming, humbling and empowering. She is loved.
